1. Introduction

After sending a proposal using Cone’s proposal software, managing and tracking the proposal becomes crucial to understanding client engagement and moving the proposal to completion. Cone enables you to monitor proposal interactions and taking further actions based on the proposal's status


2. Proposal details

You can access proposal details by clicking on any sent proposal from the listing page. Listing can be found when you click Proposals on the left navigation bar

After a proposal is sent, detailed insights become accessible, offering valuable data on client interactions and proposal status

2.a Proposal interactions:

  • Navigate to the proposal listing page within Cone.

  • Select a sent proposal to view detailed analytics, including:

    • Web views: The number of times the proposal has been viewed by the client

    • Last viewed: The most recent timestamp when the proposal was viewed, offering insight into the client’s engagement level

2.b Proposal status:

  • Within the proposal details page, the current status (e.g., Draft, Sent, Won, Lost, Recalled, Ended, Expired) of the proposal is displayed prominently

  • Users can quickly ascertain where the proposal stands, enabling timely follow-up actions

2.c Signing status

The proposal's signing status is a critical component, providing clarity on the proposal's acceptance progress and facilitating further actions based on the document's current standing

  • Sent Proposals:

    • Link sharing: If the proposal hasn’t been signed yet, signing status will be shown as Pending . You can access a shareable link dedicated to the proposal for the client. This link can be sent directly to the client, offering a convenient way to review and sign the proposal without navigating through emails or other communication mediums

  • Send via email: The ability to directly resend the proposal via email from Cone or utilize the client link for follow-up emphasizes proactive engagement, ensuring clients have easy access to the proposal for review and signing

  • Signed proposals:

    • Signing Details: Once a proposal is signed, Cone updates the signing status to reflect this significant milestone. Users can view critical signing information such as the signing date and the identity of the signatory

  • Document access: Post-signing, both parties receive a digitally signed PDF copy via email, serving as an official document for record-keeping and future reference. You can also access the pdf by clicking on Client view and clicking on view pdf at the top


3. Proposal statuses

The actions available in proposal details page vary by the proposal's status. Below is a breakdown of statuses and corresponding actions users can take

Proposal statuses:

  • Draft: Proposal is still being worked on and has not been sent

  • Sent: Proposal has been sent to the client but not yet accepted

  • Won: Client has accepted (signed) the proposal

  • Lost: Proposal has been marked as lost

  • Recalled: Proposal has been withdrawn for edits or cancellation

  • Ended: The engagement defined in the proposal has ended prematurely

  • Expired: Proposal was not accepted within the defined timeframe


4. Actions in different proposal stages

4.a Sent Stage Actions:

  • View and track engagement: Check how many times and when the proposal was last viewed

  • Client link access: Obtain a shareable link to the proposal, facilitating easy follow-up

  • Resend email: Directly resend the proposal via email from Cone to nudge the client

  • Manage proposal: Options include duplicating for a new client, marking as won or lost, previewing the proposal, recalling for edits, modifying reminder settings, and saving the proposal as a template for future use

4.b Won stage actions:

  • Duplication: Create a copy of the accepted proposal for similar future engagements

  • Preview: Review the finalized and accepted proposal

  • Mark as ended: Officially conclude the engagement, shifting the proposal to the “Ended” status

  • Template saving: Convert the successful proposal into a template, streamlining proposal creation for future projects with similar scopes or clients
