1. Overview

Effortless management of invoicing is a cornerstone feature of Cone, providing users with comprehensive tools to handle invoices both at the account level and individually, per client

2. Viewing invoices

Invoices can be accessed from two main areas within Cone: the firm’s billing page provides a collective view across all clients, while the client workspace’s billing tab offers a focused view on a specific client’s invoices

All invoices:

  • Accessing a holistic view of all invoices across clients is done by clicking on Billing in the left sidebar within Cone

  • Once in the Billing section, users can navigate through different tabs to view an overview by clients, and explore lists of recurring and sent invoices for all clients

  • You can also apply filters to view specific invoices

Client specific invoices:

  • Each client in Cone has a dedicated workspace, under which lies the Billing tab tailored to that client

  • Here, users can view all invoices related to the specific client, facilitating a focused view on the financial interactions with the client

3.Invoice actions

Invoices in Cone can reside in multiple states, each allowing for specific actions accessible through the invoice's triple-dot menu options

Open state actions:

  • Mark as Sent: Transition the invoice status from open to sent, indicating it has been formally issued to the client

  • Charge Now: Before charging, an open invoice must first be sent. This initiates the transition to sent status, enabling payment processing

  • Sync to accounting App: Integrate the invoice details with connected accounting software for streamlined financial management

  • Mark as paid: Manually update the invoice status to paid, used when payment is processed outside Cone’s system

  • Write off: For invoices unlikely to be paid, this action removes the invoice from active collections

  • Cancel: Void the invoice before it progresses to further stages

Sent state actions:

  • Copy link: Generates a payment link for the invoice that can be shared directly with the client

  • Duplicate in open status: Cancels the current invoice and creates a duplicate in the open state for re-issuance or adjustment

  • Charge now: Directly charge the client using the default payment method on file

  • Mark as paid, write off, cancel: Similar to the open state, these actions allow for flexibility in managing sent invoices based on their payment status

4. Paid invoice overview

For invoices that have been paid, users can view comprehensive details including the payment date, providing clear insights into the transaction
